Lump above cats right shoulder?
I have a male indoor cat, about 12 years old. I have recently noticed a large lump just above his right shoulder. It is soft to the touch and a feels a little grainy. I can move it around and it does not seem to bother him when I press on it or move it. The vet put a needle in and tried to get a fluid sample and got a very small amount. So it appears to not be filled with fluid to indicate a cyst. He put it under the microscope and said he found small traces of grainy particles and that's it. He gave my cat an injection of an antibiotic that is new on the market and is supposedly good for two weeks of released medicine. It's been almost 4 weeks now and the lump is still there with no change and it is worrying me as to what it might be. Now I have two other cats that my cats play fights with and I wonder if maybe he got a claw in the shoulder and perhaps this has caused an infection or what. Is there anyone out there who can help me figure out what it may be so I can get him cured?!!
I had an older cat and I once felt a bump and took him to the vet. The vet took x-ray and said that it was a non-cancerous mass. I asked what could have caused it, and he told me trauma.. falling, bumping, etc. In your case, it could very well be from playing with your other kitties. In my cats case, the mass was removed and he recovered very quickly.

It is probably just a fatty tumor and they are not dangerous to your baby at all. They are more bothersome to you than to them. So if your vet found nothing in the fluid he pulled out, I would not worry about it. Had it been cancer or something, he would have known when he looked at it under the microscope. But if it bothers you still, take him to a different vet Hon, just to ease your mind some. Good Luck
