I was suspended pending investigation without details?

Today on payday I got a call telling me that i was suspended pending investigation through the phone by my manager.I asked for what and he said he can’t say. went to pick up my check and visited the office and asked if I had to sign anything or talk to anyone, they said no.
The day before one of my assistants quit after i sent him home. we were friends, so i texted him asking how he was but he supposably took it as me mocking him.
When he picked up his last check he visited HR and showed them the texts I sent him and thats why i was placed on suspension (im thinking). My assistant managers tried to explain to Human resources that we are friends and it’s probably just us talking and joking around with each other.

Its been 3 days and i read online this can take a month.

But am i entitled to pay? or even a copy / tangible proof that i sent those texts or what other steps can I take to make sure if they terminate me, it is correcly done.

The place where i work is very messed up and they’re very sneaky in the way they have fired people in the past.

please help and tell me other additional rights. If all else fails, ill just tell them Im going to my lawyer, just to scare em. Bad publicity ftw.

In the US, generally, they can suspend you without pay and they can fire you for no reason at all.

They do not have to pay you for time you are not actually working.

Talk to someone at the EEOC and in your state’s Labor Board office to find out what your rights are. The laws vary state to state. I posted several links to help you research what the laws are in your state. You also might want to talk to an attorney.

Personally, I think you have the right to know why you were suspended.
